The Life Cycle of a Butterfly 🦋
A butterfly’s journey is a fascinating transformation that occurs in four stages:
1️⃣ Egg 🥚
- The cycle begins when a butterfly lays tiny eggs on the leaves or stems of plants.
- Each egg contains a developing caterpillar.
2️⃣ Larva (Caterpillar) 🐛
- Once the egg hatches, a caterpillar emerges.
- The caterpillar’s primary job is to eat and grow, shedding its skin several times as it becomes larger.
3️⃣ Pupa (Chrysalis) 🪲
- After growing to its full size, the caterpillar forms a protective shell, called a chrysalis or pupa.
- Inside, an incredible transformation takes place as the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
4️⃣ Adult Butterfly 🦋
- The adult butterfly emerges from the chrysalis, spreading its wings to dry before taking flight.
- Its goal is to find a mate and start the cycle anew.
🌿 This amazing process is called metamorphosis, showcasing nature's incredible power of change and growth!
